My Avatar

_1457460600.72981_31I AM……

I am a loving and caring person. I have red hair and blue eyes. I like every color except for mustard yellow. I love to read and draw. History is my favorite subject in school. I don’t like English and Science class. On Monday mornings, I am a bit tired but after lunch I am more awake and alert. And I love to hang out with friends.

Spiritual Emphasis Week

This past week we have had Spiritual Emphasis Week. A pastor from Canada came and spoke everyday in chapel. He spoke on the book of Ecclesiastes. He talked about how life without God is meaningless. You need God to guide your life.

I like having chapel every day and really enjoyed the book of Ecclesiastes. It helped me to realize that there are things I can do in my school to be a light for God.

“Our Crazy Family”

image

“Our Crazy Family.” What a funny name for a blog post. Well I am about to explain what it means.

We have been studying about the life of Joseph in Bible class. So as a class we decided to make a video on Joseph’s life. But it was going to have a bit of a twist to it. The video that we made was modernized.

We modernized everything. So instead of Joseph, his name was “Jo.” We had so much fun working together. The picture above is one that we took while working on our video. Here are all of the characters on the slide from bottom to top:

Ben (Benjamin) and Noah (Pharaoh) and Old Man Wilikers (steward to Joseph) and Fred the guard

Pops (Jacob) and steward #2 and Chef Angelo (the baker) and a slave

Ru (Reuben) and Christopher (Potiphar)

Jo (Joseph) and Ru’s friend

Sim (Simeon) and a slave and Bert the Butler (the cupbearer)

Vi (Levi) and the slave trader and a guard of Noah and anything needed

Jade (Judah) and Christophera (Potiphar’s wife) and a guard of Noah

We had so much fun with all these characters and loved trying to add a bit of humor. I would love to show all of you who read our blogs our video but unfortunately it might be just a little too big to put on here. It is a 22 minute long video. But I am happy that we worked great as a team and I can’t wait for another project to do.

Enthusiasm: A Word For Next Semester

semester blog post 2 semester blog post

At the beginning of the year, I was super excited for history because it is my favorite subject. And this year we were going to be learning American History. These two pictures show how I feel at the beginning of the year and at the end of the first semester. At the beginning, I am excited and at the end of the first semester I have a lot of information but am still having fun.

My way of learning this semester was doing projects on a subject that I found interesting. I loved doing the Keynote presentations. But I also liked the making the posters to represent our subject. Over all, I had a lot of fun with the presentations.

I am super excited for next semester.semester blog post 3 Let’s go for it!

Carousel Brainstorming

IMG_2051

We have been using to different ways of learning in history class for a couple of weeks now. We have been making timelines and doing something called “Carousel Brainstorming.” Carousel Brainstorming is where we go around the room with a partner and add information to papers that have different topics from our history book. For me, I would say that both has helped me but the timeline has helped more. I am a visual learner so it helped me because I could see the events on the paper in front of me.

Our Homemade Timeline

whole class

team 2In our class, we have been working on making a timeline of the events in our history book. We were split up into two teams. The Timeline has helped me understand the information a lot better. It helped because I could see the events and when they took place. It was a lot of fun to write about the events and get to draw pictures about them. It helped me remember the facts for the test.

Fall Festival

annaToday is the 30th of October and everyone in the States knows that tomorrow is Halloween. But as a Christian school, we don’t celebrate that  holiday. So instead, we are celebrating fall.

For Halloween, everyone dresses up. So our school decided that we could dress up as well. As long as we didn’t do anything like a zombie, ghost, ect. Today, my friend and I are dressed up as “Black and White” musketeers. (A musketeer was someone who protected the king a long time ago.)

Today, we are going to have an “end-of-the-day-school-activity.” The Jr. High and HS are going to be in charge of the games and the Elementary are going to play the games for candy. We each have a “booth” that we will be in charge of. My friends and I made a game called “Don’t Drop the Pumpkin.”

In “Don’t Drop the Pumpkin,” we will have several pylons arranged in a zig-zag with a group of cups at the end. The students will have a spoon and an orange ping-pong ball (the pumpkin). They have to walk around the pylons ,with the “pumpkin” on the spoon, without dropping it. At the end they will have to drop the “pumpkin” into a cup. On the bottom of the cup is a number and the number is how much candy they get. They will have three tries if they drop the ball and if they can’t do it, they get at least one candy.

I think it will be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to see how the Elementary like the activities.

Plymouth Colony

My project was on Plymouth colony. I chose to do a keynote presentation. I talked about how the Pilgrims decided to leave England because they were unable to practice their religion in peace. They went to the Netherlands and then on to the New World(America). I also talked about the hardships that they went through and what happened to them in the end. I enjoyed doing this project because I got to learn more about the Pilgrims. I am excited for the next projects that my class and I will get to do.
